Intralase Laser Eye Surgery

The IntraLase Method is a 100% blade-free technique used to perform the critical first step in the LASIK procedure: creating the corneal flap. The creation of the corneal flap prepares the eye for the second step of the LASIK procedure where an excimer laser is used on the inner cornea to correct vision.

Crystalens - IOL Implants

The Crystalens® accommodating intraocular lens is an intraocular lens used after cataract surgery or as a lens alternative in presbyopic lens exchanges. This intraocular lens was engineered with a hinge design to allow the optic, or the part of the lens that you see through, to move back and forth as your focus on an image changes. The Crystalens® accommodative intraocular lens is permanently implanted during surgery and functions in a similar fashion as the natural lens of the eye. Once the surgery has been completed your eyes can focus on far or near objects in a comfortable way with no discomfort. If you are experiencing presbyopia or cataracts please feel free to consult us about the possibility of utilizing the new Crystalens® accommodative intraocular lens to rejuvenate your eyes.

Only the Safest LASIK for Long Beach!

Are you seeking a Long Beach iLASIK surgeon?

Dr. Carlos Martinez and Dr. James Donovan are committed to providing only the best technology for their patients and have chosen iLasik™ as their preferred laser vision correction method.   iLasik™ is one of the best procedures for laser vision correction that has been developed by AMO/VISX and perfected by Intralase technology. This is the first time that any laser refractive surgery company has combined wavefront analysis, excimer laser technology and blade-free flap creation into one procedure.

iLASIK

Is iLASIK better than conventional LASIK?

Conventional LASIK has been a great procedure but over 10 years of laser vision research has led to better and safer methods of vision correction. Although most traditional LASIK patients have experienced little to no problems, ophthalmologists and visual scientists were eager to perfect this procedure with better technology and now it is available with iLASIK through Dr. Martinez and Dr. Donovan at Eye Physicians of Long Beach.

The Advanced Technology of the iLASIK platform

What is the iLASIK platform?

The iLASIK platform used at Eye Physicians of Long Beach includes:

  • VISX star4 Excimer Laser (with IRIS Registration) - the VISX star4 excimer laser is one of the top excimer lasers with superior technology like Iris Registration (IR).  IR provides a much better alignment of the blue print of your eye measured preoperatively with the actual cornea during treatment.  When you lay down to have the laser done, your eye can shift.  Using Iris Registration, the computer finds prominent points seen in your iris during the creation of the blueprint of your eye and their new position.  It will then adjust the treatment positioning prior to starting the treatment.  It will then automatically check the new pattern to make sure it makes sense.  It will also center treatment to the pupil measured preoperatively.
  • CustomVue™ Wavefront technology- Developed from Hubble telescope technology wavefront expands treatment zones and helps minimize higher order aberrations which results in better vision quality.
  • ActiveTrak™ 3-D Active Eye Tracking- with automatic centering.  It is the first FDA-approved tracker in the industry to track eye movements along the X, Y and Z axes. These features facilitate the accurate performance of the Advanced CustomVue™ procedure.  An infrared camera can detect eye movements and compensate for these by guiding the laser beam to the right place.  The tracker realigns itself before each laser pulse which results in pinpoint accuracy.
  • Intralase® Blade-FREE laser - Creates the LASIK flap with a laser instead of blade resulting in a safer LASIK

iLASIK“ By combining CustomVue wavefront technology with VISX™ Star4 active tracking capability and a blade-free Femtosecond Laser for an ALL-laser LASIK, we can now achieve a safer more precise result. The technology used in the iLASIK procedure has been thoroughly tested and scrutinized by doctors who overwhelmingly claim the advantages with safety and precision. It is clear now that iLASIK truly represents a technological combination unmatched in vision correction."

iLASIK Facts

Approximately 32,000,000 LASIK procedures have been performed to date, making it the most common elective vision procedure in the U.S. In fact, all branches of the U.S. military and NASA recently approved LASIK for their servicemen and women, thanks to studies using iLASIK technology. AMO/VISX
