Are you tired of needing reading glasses? Do you wish there was something better available? Eye Physicians of Long Beach now offers our patients the revolutionary new VUITY prescription eye drops to treat presbyopia.

What is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is an eye condition that occurs because of aging. With age, the natural lens in the eye loses flexibility.

It becomes more challenging to see the things you want to up-close when this occurs. Presbyopia is a natural part of the aging process and usually results in the need to use reading glasses.

Tasks like reading a book, looking at the newspaper, ordering off a menu at a restaurant, or looking at a street sign may all become more challenging if you have presbyopia.

What are the Symptoms of Presbyopia?

If you have presbyopia, you may notice yourself doing things like the following:

• You’re squinting more, narrowing your eyes, and having trouble seeing things up close

• You move your head forwards and backward to find the best way to see

• It’s harder to make out words on a page or a computer, tablet, or digital device

• It’s more difficult to thread a needle

• You need brighter light while reading

• You blink to see if you can clear your vision, but the blurriness remains

If these sound familiar to you, there’s a good chance you have presbyopia. Until now, the only way to treat presbyopia was with a procedure like refractive lens exchange, wearing reading glasses, or special contact lenses.

But now, there’s VUITY, the first of its kind prescription eye drop to treat presbyopia.

What are VUITY Eye Drops?

VUITY is the first and only FDA-approved prescription eye drop for the treatment of presbyopia. Eye Physicians of Long Beach is one of the first eye care practices in the country to offer this new presbyopia treatment to patients.

How Does VUITY Work?

One drop of VUITY in each eye will improve close-range vision for up to six hours and intermediate vision for ten hours. Patients may find this especially helpful when completing tasks like working on a computer.

VUITY works by reducing the size of your pupil. The drops decrease or restrict the pupil, which can temporarily improve your vision’s sharpness. By contracting certain muscles in your eye, you’ll be able to see up close better.

With just one drop in each eye, once a day, you’ll be able to see up close while maintaining distance vision. The improvements are temporary, yet they can be life-changing. You’ll start seeing results in as little as fifteen minutes after putting in the drop.

Side effects may include mild headache, eye redness, or irritation. Patients using VUITY may experience decreased visual acuity at night or in low-light settings. For this reason, avoid driving at night or hazardous activities in low light.

Can You Use VUITY with Other Medications or Contact Lenses?

If you use other eye medications, you can still use VUITY. Make sure you wait five minutes between applying other eye drops.

If you wear contact lenses, you’ll need to wait ten minutes after applying VUITY to put in your contacts.

See if You’re a Good Candidate for VUITY

Although VUITY can help you see better up close, it’s not intended to replace your prescription eyewear. But if you have early-stage presbyopia, instead of buying reading glasses, you may want to consider VUITY instead.

The only way to know if you’re a good candidate for VUITY is to schedule an appointment at Eye Physicians of Long Beach in Long Beach, CA!
